Ahead of Mobile World Congress next week HTC announced its HTC One handset. HTC officially announced HTC one at two press events in London and New York. It is the High end phone from HTC with Ultrapixel camera, Zoe capture, full HD display with all new user interface HTC Sense 5 . Does the HTC One bring enough to the table to compete with the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Nokia Lumia 920? Lets see the features of HTC one in detail.

Design

HTC one built quality is very good its aluminium body feels great in the hand. It is rectangular, flat and extremely thin in shape. There are the small portions on above the display screen and below it for speakers. On the above side their is the fornt camera also for the video calls, etc. On the back side their is primary camera 4MP camera, company calls it Ultrapixel with flash.

It is the full metal design of HTC there are no plastic inserts, no plastic top or bottom. In the hand the HTC One is reassuringly solid. HTC removes the polycarbonate body from its design and now they are returning to one of HTC’s favourite materials, aluminium.

Hardware

HTC One has the 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM. There’s 32GB of storage, and 64 GB but there is not any Micro SD card slot. So you can’t expand storage capacity more, though you do get 25GB of Dropbox storage. It has an embedded 2,300mAh battery serves as the One’s power source. More importantly it runs on the latest version of Android 4.1.2 JellyBean and in HTC ONE company introduces all new version of its user interface with HTC Sense 5

HTC One also has the new technology in camera which through more light on the sensor. Its camera is of 4 MP company calls it as the Ultrapixel.

Software

HTC One runs on the second after latest version of Android 4.1.2 JellyBean along with newly introduced user interface HTC Sense 5 in the phone. HTC has addressed the biggest criticisms of its Android handsets i.e its main screen is not having only the widgets, it come with the main home screen which consists dynamic tiles that display content from a wide variety of news outlets, blogs, and Web sites which is quite different from the traditional Android phones. This New interface on the main screen is called as the Blinkfeed.

Camera

Coming on to the camera of the HTC One. Well its packed with the 4 MP Ultrapixel camera which shows the departure from the so called megapixel race and taken a different tack. It features updated ImageSense system, along with a revamped light sensor called the UltraPixel Sensor, technically it is able to capture a resolution of 2688×1520. HTC described and said, the actual size of the sensor is larger and the pixels it creates much more detailed.

HTC One has all the other regular features like HDR shooting, panorama, 1080p video and so on. There’s also a new live mode called Zoe Camera that’s really exciting.

Verdict

We are impressed by the HTC One so far. We thiink HTC Sense 5 is the right step in the right direction from the HTC. HTC one also have the many other features like Zoe Camera, UltraPixel Sensor, Blinkfeed, etc. The build quality is good but as i came to the Blinkfeed we can get the same experience by adding Flipboard or other widgets. Worse thing is that there’s no way to shut BlinkFeed off entirely.

HTC one will be available for customers in U.S.for $199.99 and $299.99 with respective company contracts in march 2013 and it is also expected that the phone will be available in India also in march for around Rs. 40,000.

What Is An Ultrapixel Camera And How It Is Better Than Others?

As we already know HTC has launched its new flagship device, HTC One along with 4MP Ultrapixel Camera. Other spec of HTC One includes a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quadcore processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage and dimensioning a 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3mm body. It will be available after march 15 in almost 80 markets.

Many of the users, fans and followers of HTC are assuming that device’s camera is inferior as its shows only 4MP sensor. But guys that thing is not true as its 4MP Ultrapixel Camera. Don’t know? Not to worry as we are here to let you know the exact thing about Ultrapixel cameras. Let’s start off with

What Is Ultrapixel Camera?

Well term ‘Ultrapixel’ is not any registered term and so not relate to any scientific term. Than what it is? Example: Like an Atom is divided into Electrons, Protons and Neutrons similarly we can relate Ultrapixels with Megapixel. As Megapixel refers to a million pixels and if we zoomify and cut down the pixels than the small pixels produced be can referred as UltraPixel.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos Review

Again we are here with the new device, this time its Samsung Galaxy grand Duos I9082. It was launched last month after its announcement in december. We can explain this device in just one word and that is “midrange”. Even based in “midrange” category it is well-designed and built handset with an impressive spec sheet.

Only thing we don’t like about the device is its big screen (shorter than galaxy Note Series) which is of 5 inches but not HD as it gives 480 x 800 resolution only. So let’s start without wasting any time.

Design And Display

As we all know, normal buyers gets attracted towards any device by its looks. Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos design is based on Galaxy S III and Note II. Its fully plastic made. It measures to be 5.65 x 3.03 x 0.38 inches (143.5 x 76.9 x 9.6 mm) and weighs 162 g. All GSM SIM card and a microSD card slots are under rear cover. It can get scratches easily as its rear cover has a motley like pattern.

As mentioned above it has 5 inch Capacitive TFT Touchscreen with 16M colors. It can give resolution of upto 480 x 800 pixels having 187 ppi (pixel density). Overall my display experience with the phone is good. It gives sharp and crisp quality images on screen.

Hardware

Hardware of Galaxy Grand Duos is the best part of it. You can play games, internet surfing, do anything else without any lag. On papers its powered by Dual core processor, clocked at 1.2 GHZ with 1 GB of RAM. Its Soc is ARM Coretex-A9 MPCore which support NEON video decoding and ARM TrustZone technology. It has Broadcom Video Core IV graphics processing unit.

Its hardware looks to be excellent but not faster than the Galaxy S III or Note II. Its top notch phone at mid range price for all type of tasks.

Software

It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but there are no news about its upgrade to Android 4.2. You will get Google now, Project Butter, Multitask and all other luxuries of Android 4.1.2. Along with it user interface is tweaked with TouchWiz which is packed with in active task manager, active lock screen ticker, S Voice, S Note are pre installed, and motion activations, and camera launch from the lock screen.

Camera

Grand Duos 8 megapixels camera is backed up by Back-illuminated sensor (BSI) along with LED flash. Its image qiality inside and outside both are excellent. You can even shoot videos of 1920×1080 (1080p HD) resolution. Similarly like other features its camera User Interface is also much like Galaxy S3.

Even there is 2 MP front shooter also which is present for video chat there. Images taken by both the camera are good enough accordingly its sensor.

Other features

There are many other features present in the 5 incher device. Its battery is of 2100 mAh which can give you backup of upto a day with normal usage.

In connectivity it supports 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz bands of GSM. While UMTS can work with band frequencies of 900, 1900, 2100 MHz. As it is 2G, 3G and 4G powered so it also have support for HSDPA+ (4G) 21.1 Mbit/s, HSUPA 5.76 Mbit/s, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS.

There are also as usual sensors like Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass along with Voice dialing, Voice commands, Voice recording features.

Verdict

Overall Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos is good device having all features which mid range device needs to have. We think its priced little bit higher accordingly its working, sensitivity and performance. It also have better build quality than its other brother and sisters in the same range. overall its a good deal priced at US $ 399 or INR 21000 in India.

The lens on most phones is on the outside of the body. This means that it doesn’t have any protection from the elements. Quite often a fingerprint or foreign body can affect the lens of camera. Basic thing is that take a microfiber cloth and Fold like a triangle so you have a sharp corner and work it in there and clean the lens .
Use a small blower brush to remove dust and debris from the lens. Do not blow on the lens with your mouth. It increases risk of accidentally spraying the lens with saliva, as there are acids in our breath that can actually damage the lens coating.

Apple Releases iOS 6.1 with Improvements for iTunes and More

Apple releases ios 6.1 today with improvements for iTunes match and siri. According to the release notes, the update adds LTE support for additional carriers also (36 for iPhone, 23 for iPad).

Philip Schiller Said,“iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history.”

Apple first began testing beta builds of iOS 6.1 with developers last November. The free software update is compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad (third and fourth generation), iPad mini, iPad 2 and iPod touch (fourth and fifth generation). Generally a jailbreak isn’t released until Apple releases their first major point update. Now that it’s here, we’ll hopefully see a jailbreak option surface sometime in February. In the meantime, however, you can enjoy some improved features and bug fixes courtesy of Apple

The update is available on your device in the Settings app (General -> Software Update).

What are Proximity Sensors, How They Work And Types?

These days technology is advancing everyday with some kind of new inventions. Today One company launches a product with any new technology, several other starts booming up with different option in that same technology.

These days we are hearing of and using various kinds of sensors in our life. I’m here not talking about Human’s five sense organs, here we are talking about sensors. Sensors are also known as detectors which converts physical quantity and converts it to a signal. There are many types of Sensors invented for different type of particular work. Today our subject is Proximity Sensors, we gonna talk here about what actually it is, how it works and its types. So without wasting any time let’s checkout

How Proximity Sensors Work?

When anything comes in the range of Proximity sensor it flash out infrared beam and monitors reflections. When sensor senses reflections it confirms that there’s an object nearby.

Working:

An Inductive Proximity Sensor consists of an oscillator, a ferrite core with coil, a detector circuit, an output circuit, housing, and a cable or
connector. The oscillator generates a sine wave of a fixed frequency. This signal is used to drive the coil. The coil in conjunction with ferrite core induces a electromagnetic field. When the field lines are interrupted by a metal object, the oscillator voltage is reduced, proportional to the size and distance of the object from the coil. The reduction in the oscillator voltage is caused by eddy currents induced in the metal interrupting the field lines. This reduction in voltage of the oscillator is detected by the detecting circuit.

What are Proximity Sensors

We can say that proximity sensor is a device which detects objects nearby without any physical contact up to nominal range or sensor’s vicinity. In brief we can also say that Sensors which convert information on the movement or presence of an object into an electrical signal are called proximity sensors.

In this there’s one more term you need to learn and that is sensing object – the object being sensed is defined as sensing object.

Types of Proximity Sensors

There are several types of proximity sensor which are used according to the need, material detection and many other things. To classify them here are its types:

Inductive Proximity Sensors

Device which generates output signal or electrical signal when metal objects are either inside or entering into its sensing area from any direction. The metal objects above includes iron, aluminum, brass, copper, etc with varied sensing distances.

Other factors which affect Proximity sensors: flat targets are preferable, targets larger than the sensing face may increase the sensing distance. First inductive proximity sensor was introduced in the mid 60’s. [divider]

Capacitive Proximity Sensors

It can also detect metals but along with it can also detect resins, liquids, powders, etc. This sensor working can vary accordingly covering material, cable longness, noise senstivity. Its sensing distance also vary according to factors such as the temperature, the sensing object, surrounding objects, and the mounting distance between Sensors. Its maximum range of sensing is 25 mm.

Magnetic Proximity Sensors

Name is saying its sensing object – magnets. Magnetic Proximity Sensors have no electrical noise effect and it can work on DC, AC, AC/DC, DC. Again sensing distance can vary due to factors such as the temperature, the sensing object, surrounding objects, and the mounting distance between Sensors.
