What’s New In NVIDIA Tegra 4?

tegra-4

So as we know today NVIDIA announced its new Tegra 4 Processor at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. Its claimed to be the world’s fastest processor by NVIDIA. Tegra 4 processor is designed and built in order to give lightning-fast web browsing, stunning visuals and new camera capabilities through computational photography.

Currently its not clear on which device its its coming but we hope it will soon hit devices.

How’s Tegra 4 Faster Than Others?

This is the big question that how’s this processor is different from others? Let make it clear, ARM’s quad-core Cortex-A15 processor based NVIDIA Tegra 4 has 72 individual Nvidia GeForce graphics cores based on on the 28nm process.

In order to prove it NVIDIA showed off the chip’s graphical powers by having a Tegra 4-powered device push 4K-resolution video to an Ultra HDTV.

One more demonstration was given in order to prove Tegra 4 superiority, Huang CEO NVIDIA, compared a Nexus 10 tablet, against a Tegra 4-based tablet. The two tablets were set to load 25 high-traffic web sites: the Tegra 4 did it in 27 seconds and the Nexus 10 tablet in 50 seconds.

Tegra 4 is based on 4-plus-1 arrangement that of its predecessor Tegra 3.

Earlier we saw various companies launched different variants of their devices for US due to Tegra 3 incompatibility with 4G LTE network. But now problem is solved as Tegra 4 is fully compatible with 4G LTE.

Despite its power, its also energy efficient than Tegra 3 since it has the same architecture, with a fifth core that helps regulate energy use. With its power-efficient design, the Tegra 4 is said to enable up to 14 hours of video playback on smartphones.

Features of NVIDIA Tegra 4:

  • GeForce GPU with 72 custom cores
  • Quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, plus a 2nd Generation Battery Saver Core
  • Computational Photography Architecture
  • LTE capability with optional Icera i500 chipset
  • 4K ultra-high-def video support

As discussed in beginning Tegra 4 also introduces new computational photography architecture. It improves image processing upto 10 times faster than old platforms. Huang, also demoed this feature to create an HDR instantly by capturing two images at exactly the same time. NVIDIA describes it as:

Among the Tegra 4 processor’s breakthroughs is its Computational Photography Architecture, which automatically delivers high dynamic range (HDR) photos and video by fusing together the processing power of the GPU, CPU and the camera’s image-signal processor.

That’s it. Stay connected with us for more news about it in upcoming days.

What Is HDMI And How’s It Different?

hdmi

HDMI is High-Definition Multimedia Interface, describes a new kind of cable for hooking high-definition TVs to things like cable boxes and DVD players. HDMI is a type of digital connection that’s capable of transmitting high-definition video and high-resolution audio over a single cable.

History of HDMI:

HDMI is founded by Hitachi, Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic/National/Quasar), Philips, Silicon Image, Sony, Thomson (RCA) and Toshiba. Its development was started April 8 2003 and its first Authorized Testing center was opened in California, US. Thereafter several new ATCs were opened in several countries like India, China, etc.

HDMI products started shipping in autumn 2003. Over 800 CE and PC companies have adopted the HDMI specification (HDMI Adopters). HDMI began to appear on consumer HDTV camcorders and digital still cameras in 2006. Shipments of HDMI are expected to exceed that of Digital Visual Interface (DVI) in 2008, driven primarily by the Consumer Electronics (CE) Market.

In 2004, HDMI devices sold was 5 million in 2004, 17.4 million in 2005, 63 million in 2006, and 143 million in 2007 and sales grew year by year.

How’s HDMI is Different From Other Connectivity or Cables?

hdmi features

HDMI can handle high-definition video of up to 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, which is the most bandwidth-intensive video format currently available. HDMI can be adapted to DVI (Digital Video Interface), via adapter cable or connector. However, the device that has the DVI connection must be HDCP enabled for the signal transfer to work. It also supports eight channels of uncompressed audio, enough for a 7.1 surround-sound system.

Detailed Video Format Support:

  • Video Formats – HDMI supports any format in the CE industry (PAL, NTSC, ATSC etc.)
  • Highest Resolutions – The highest resolution that the new HD DVD and Blu-ray movies will offer (up to 1080p) is fully supported in HDMI. Due to the extra available bandwidth, even higher resolutions are supported (1440p)
  • Colours in the billions – Up to 48-bit support for RGB and YCbCr makes way for over 1 billion colours. (48-bit support was added in HDMI 1.3)
  • Refresh Rate – Up to 120 Hz

Detailed Audio Formats Support:

  • Uncompressed (PCM) – PCM audio up to 8 channels at 24-bit sampling rates at a frequency of 192 Khz.
  • Compressed – Supports all the usual compressed formats; Dolby Digital 5.1 – 7.1, DTS etc.
  • SACD – HDMI supports up to 8 channels of one-bit audio used on Super Audio CDs.
  • DVD-Audio – Supports DVD Audio content since HDMI 1.1
  • Lossless – HDMI supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio

Due to its these superqualitiies HDMI is on top of all cables or interfaces. If you need to do things at this high reolution and 8 Channel Audio Quality than you need multichannel analog audio cables, but you’d need to run as many as eight separate cables to get the same quality.

Types Of HDMI:

Currently there are 6 types of HDMI versions:

  • HDMI 1.0
  • HDMI 1.1
  • HDMI 1.2
  • HDMI 1.3
  • HDMI 1.3a
  • HDMI 1.4
Different HDMI Cables:
  • Standard HDMI Cable – up to 1080i and 720p
  • Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet
  • Automotive HDMI Cable
  • High Speed HDMI Cable – 1080p, 4K, 3D and deep color
  • High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet
Different HDMI Plugs Connectors:
  • Type A: consists of a 19-pin connector.
  • Type B: 29 pins connector.
  • Type C: 19 pins facilitate the three high speed TMDS channels, the TMDS clock channel, DDC channel, CEC Channel, a 5v power supply and hot plug detect feature.
  • Type D: 19 pins of types A and C but shrinks the connector size to something resembling a micro-USB connector

At The End:

As technology is developing at great pace so HDMI i also developing. We hope HDMI will become more standard connection option with increasing capabilities. Eventually, the cable jungle behind your home theater system will disappear, as all the audio and video cables are reduced to one HDMI cable between each component for both audio and video.

Different Types Of Cameras

A camera is the device that record images that can be stored directly or transferred to some other location. The images can be still or moving such as videos or movies. The Different types of cameras are described below

Still Cameras:

It is the type of camera used to take photographs. The photographs taken by these cameras are ‘still” means their is not any motion in the picture captured by these kind of cameras. the still cameras are of various types.

  • Instant Cameras: Instant camera is the type of camera with self developing films in it which develops the picture immediatly after it was clicked. The most popular  self-developing film were formerly made by Polaroid Corporation.
  • Schmidt Camera: It is also referred to as the Schmidt telescope.  It is used as the tool for astrophotographic to take the pictures of wide fields of view with limited aberrations. These cameras are used in scientific research in finding the news stars and solar systems, etc.

Digital Cameras:

It is the type of electronic camera which can capture still images as well as the pictures in the motion or we can say videos. we can do both these things by the same device. Digital cameras are incorporated into many devices ranging from PDAs and mobile phones to vehicles. Unlike film cameras digital cameras can display images on a screen immediately after recorded and thsese cameras can store and delete images from memory. Many digital cameras can also record moving video with sound. Some digital cameras can crop perform other elementary image editing.

Video Camera:

Video camera is the used to capture the electronic motion pictures. Modern video cameras have numerous designs and uses, not all of which resemble the early television cameras.

  • Professional Video camera: These may be used for film making in cinemas. These may be television studio-based or mobile in the case of an electronic field production. These cameras are generally controlled manually and in these cameras the automated operation are excluded.
  • Camcorders: These have combine camera and a VCR or other recording device in one unit. These are basically used to record the home movies.
  • Closed-circuit television (CCTV): These are generally use pan tilt zoom cameras and used for  for security, surveillance, and monitoring purposes. These cameras are designed to be small, easily hidden, and able to operate unattended these cameras are often meant for use in environments that are normally inaccessible or uncomfortable for humans

 SLR(single-lens reflex Cameras):

It is a camera that typically uses a mirror and prism system that permits the photographer to view through the lens and see exactly what will be captured.  Contrary to viewfinder cameras where the image could be significantly different from what will be captured. The SLR cameras are made and manufactured by the Pentax, Contaflex, Canon,  etc.
