Printer is the most popular output device used today to produce hard copy output. There are many types of printers which are used by the users as according to their need. These are very useful nowadays as all the things which are uneasy to read on the monitor screen we used to print those things and read carefully. Below we describe the various types of Printers.

Dot-Matrix Printer

It is a character printer that print one character at a time. This Printer can form characters and all kinds of images as pattern of dots. Since dot matrix printer produce printed output as pattern of dots, they can print any shape of character that a program can describe. They therefore, can print many special characters, different sizes of print, and also have the ability to print graphics such as charts and graphs.

Dot Matrix printer are normally haves slow printing speeds ranging from 30-600 characters per second. They are available at very low cost. These types of printers are generally used to print the shipping invoices.

Inkjet Printers

It prints characters by spraying patterns of ink on the paper from a nozzle or jet that can heated up selectively. The ink comes out of the nozzle in a form of vapors. After passing through a reflecting plate, it forms the desired letter/shape at the desired place. It is also a Character printer but it produces high quality output than dot matrix printers because these printers form characters with very tiny ink dots.

Inkjet printers are slower than dot matrix printer as inkjet printing speed is 40- 300 characters per second. Inkjet printer is also more expensive than dot matrix because it produces the high quality prints with more transformed technology. These printers are very popular because they are less expensive than laser printers and can print faster and accurate than dot matrix and other impact printers.

Drum Printer

Drum printer is a line printers that print one line at a time. In addition the drum printer is also the impact printer. In this Printer it has a set of hammers mounted in front of the drum in a manner that an inked ribbon and paper can be placed between the hammers and the drum. Than the drum rotates at a high speed. A character is printed at a desired print position.

This printer has the speed of 300- 2000 lines per minute. This printer also produces lots of noise that’s why cover is used to reduce the noise.

Chain Band Printer

Chain/Band printer are line printers that prints one line at a time. It consist of of a metallic chain/band on which all characters of the character set supported by the printer are embossed. A standard character set may have 48,64 and 96 characters. The characters in the character set are embossed several times on the chain/band.

Unlike drum printer the chain/band printer can be changed easily. It allows the printing to be done in different fonts and styles in the same printer. Due to the impact printing chain/band printers are noisy in operation and often use a cover to reduce the noise level. Printing speeds of the chain/band printers range from 400 – 3000 lines per minute.

Laser Printers

Laser printers are the page printers that prints one page at a time. main component of the laser printer are a laser beam source, multi sided mirror, a photoconductive drum, and toner. Laser printers produces high quality output because they form characters by very tiny ink particles. The high end laser printer can have a resolution of 1200 dpi. Due to the high resolution , these printers give excellent graphics art quality.

Laser printers are faster than other printers discussed earlier. Low speed laser printers can print 4 to 12 pages per minute. Owing to their better print quality and printing speed, laser printers are more expensive than the other types of the printers. These printers are very popular in the market because of its fast printing.

GPU’s have large numbers of ALU’s, more so than CPU’s. As a result, they can do large amounts of bulky mathematical labor in a greater quantity than CPU’s.
GPU’s consist hundreds of cores which can handle various threads at a time in respect to CPU which have only few cores with lots of cache memory that can handle a few software threads only.
Now GPU’s don’t limit them up to graphical things they can be used anywhere.
Nvidia CUDA, the first true GPGPU which basically, is a way to use the GPU(s) on a video card as general-use supplemental processors.
Some of the fastest supercomputers in the world rely on GPUs to advance scientific discoveries.
GPUs are capable of performing vector operations and floating-point arithmetic, with the latest cards capable of manipulating double-precision floating-point numbers.

GPU execution units can’t deal with branching efficiently.
GPU execution units don’t support hardware interrupts in the same way CPUs do.

From some time now in Indian market there has been a flood of budget smartphones from the Indian manufacturers like Karbonn and Micromax. Karbonn S5 Titanium is one of them it is a successor to the S1 Titanium from Karbonn. Karbonn S5 Titanium is powered with Quad-core 1.2 GHz Processor with 1GB RAM, It also powered with 8MP camera and 2 MP secondary camera for video calls etc.It also has Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery which is not bad for the phone in this price range. Now Lets Review its features in detail.

Design/Build

Karbonn S5 Titanium looks bit diffrent from its predecessor S1 Titanium as it looks very glossy and it is quite thinner than its predecessor. Although it is quite thicker than the smartphones available in the market with the kind of specs Karbonn S5 Titanium have.

Front side of the phone showcases the 5 inch qHD display. It is also powered with the front facing camera of 2 MP for video calls. On the bottom of the phone’s front side their are three feather buttons for recent apps, Home and Back. Now when we come to the back side of the phone it looks very glossy and their is a rear camera of 8 Mp with LED flash. On the left side of the phone their is the volume rocker and on the right side their is a power key. Micro USB port and 3.5 mm audio jack are located at the top of the phone whereas the micro SD card slot and SIM card slots are located under the back cover.

Display

Karbonn S5 Titanium haves the 5 inch display with ~220 ppi . It has good color saturation but with the low qHD resolution doesn’t do any favors to the phone either with the visible of softness in texts and images. We really do wish that mid range Android smartphones should start moving to 720p displays to provide a better experience to end consumers.

Software

karbonn S5 Titanium runs on Android 4.1 jellybean. Karbonn has not apply any custom skin on the interface of the phone it is pretty much like stock android interface which indeed looks good. Karbonn has given some pre loaded apps in this Phone like Gmail, Google Plus, WhatsApp, We-Chat, nexGTV, TOI, News and Weather, Flipboard and PayTM. S5 Titanium’ s interface looks very clean indeed.

Camera

Now we come to the camera on the back side of the phone their exist 8 MP shooter with auto focusing capabilities. The phone also has the LED flash located at the right side of of the camera to help the 8 MP camera to shoot good quality images even when the light is not appropriate. This Karbonn S5 Titanium can also shoots video of 720p which is quite good. This Phone is also powered with secondary camera of 2 MP for video calling located on the front side of the phone.

Images taken by primary are okay in day light but when we take the images in low light or in night the image suffers from excessive noise. images taken by this also not takes much details about it colors, etc. But in this Price range this phone is very good option to have.

Battery Life and Performance

Karbonn S5 Titanium is powered with 2000 mAh battery to which i think is little less for the kind of hardware this phone has but the company says its enough for this. We’d recommend charging the phone overnight to avoid getting stuck with a dead phone the next day.

If you see Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and you thinks that it is small that Samsung had come with the its new smartphone Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. It is a huge phone with 6.3-inch TFT display and 1.7 GHz dual core processor. Samsung doesn’t want to market this phone as a high-end flagship Thus it doesn’t effect on Its high end phones like Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note 2. But the multitasking capability of Galaxy Mega 6.3 is very good and makes it easy for the user. Now let’s Review its features in detail.

Design

Its design is pretty similar to the Galaxy s 4 but Samsung design this Galaxy Mega 6.3 in way to experience the features of the tablets with full capabilities of a phone. Display size of 6.3 inches feels great and the device and we will explain why! First of the device feels thin. The front of the device is all about the 6.3 inch display with the home at the button of the front panel.

The Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a notification LED at the top front right besides the speaker and it is very similar thing which we do know from the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 and on the right side of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 the lock-button is situated and on the left side we find the volume rockers and on the upper side you see the 3.5 plugin and on the downside of the device you have a micro USB port and the microphone. The back of the device looks very clean and we only see the Camera sensor with LED flash and a speaker at the bottom. After seeing all these things we can say that it has a good design.

Display

As we come to the Display Galaxy Mega 6.3 has TFT display with 233 ppi at a resolution 1280 x 720. Which starting to feel on low side because when see Galaxy mega display on it will lake some sharpness on the display when we to compared to some other phones like Huawei Ascend Mate 6.1.

Unlike many Samsung phones the display is not Super AMOLED but a TFT LCD to minimize the battery consumption.

Software

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 runs on the latest Android version Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the samsung’s latest version of user interface. User experience galaxy mega 6.3 is very similar to the Galaxy S4 only minor or we can say few changes here there that’s it. These changes are because of the large size of the galaxy mega 6.3.

Camera

The Phone has the 8 MP camera at the back with LED flash and it is also having 1.9 MP camera at the front side capable of HD video recording. In this galaxy mega 6.3 the camera app is updated and offers the newest interface from Samsung like Best Photo, Drama and HDR modes as well as a variety of scenes and color effects for your pics and videos.

Battery

Galaxy Mega 6.3 is powered with the power battery of 3200 mAh which only 100 mAh more than the Note 2. As the TFT display panels consume less power than the AMOLED display that’s why samsung packed this phone with 3200 mAh battery. With this battery we have talktime of about 17 hours on 2G network and 10 hours on 3G network. At last we can say its battery is very good.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has good specs as stated above. But its competitor is also launched Huawei Ascend Mate 6.1 which have the quard core processor and has great specs comparing to this Galaxy mega 6.3. Both the phones are available in india and pretty soon Galaxy mega 6.3 will be launched in UK also. Samsung’s Galaxy mega 6.3 price in India is Rs. 30990 and in UK it will be around £383.99. At the i must say that while going to buy this galaxy mega 6.3 just have look at its competitors.
