What is PureView Camera Technology?

Everyday Technology advances and similar advancements occur daily to different products, techniques, etc. Similarly Nokia this year launched PureView Camera Technology. On 27 February this year Nokia presented this technology to customers via Nokia PureView 808.

The Nokia PureView Pro imaging technology is the combination of a large, super high resolution 41 megapixels with high performance Carl Zeiss optics. Here it doesn’t means that it will take all pics at 41 mp, instead will take 5, 8 mp camera photo but for regular image but 38 mp can be used to capture image which can be zoomed and cropped later.

Total sensor size in Pureview 808 phone is of 7728 x 5368 pixels, Taking picture in either of the aforementioned aspect ratios, you will loss some pixels. 4:3 ratio pictures are maxed out at 7152 x 5368 (38-megapixels) and 16:9 images are 7728 x 4354 pixels (34-megapixels). The rest of the pixels are not used but, take a look at the diagram below to visualize the above.

How PureView Camera Works?

Nokia says that all work is done by Pixel oversampling

Actually Pixel Oversampling combines many pixels to create a single (super) pixel. When this happens, you keep virtually all the detail, but filter away visual noise from the image. The speckled, grainy look you tend to get in low-lighting conditions is greatly reduced. And in good light, visual noise is virtually non-existent. Which means the images you can take are more natural and beautiful than ever. They are purer, perhaps a more accurate representation of the original subject than has ever been achieved before.

AMOLED Display Stands For:

AMOLED Displays are also known as with the name of active-matrix organic light-emitting diode which is used in Mobile Phones and Televisions mainly. AMOLED Display is is a hybrid display technology that pairs the active matrix backplane from a traditional TFT display with an OLED display.

How AMOLED Display Works:

HTC launched its 2 smartphones HTC 8X and 8S with the most awaited windows phone 8. Where HTC 8X is a high end phone HTC 8S is made to target midrange consumers with the brilliant design and built quality and with the Windows phone 8. Now Lets Review the HTC Windows Phone 8S features in detail.

Design and Built Quality

HTC 8S is made up of polycarbonate and has a distinctly rubbery feel which make the grip of your hand while holding it. The Phone is in the rectangular shape and at the corners it is smoothly rounded. At the top their is a Power button and on the right side their is the volume and camera button. Its dimensions are 120.5 x 63 x 10.28 mm. HTC 8S is available in four different colors Gray, black, red and blue.

This small, removable panel is easy to slide off through which you can enter your SIM card and Micro SD Card for additional storage. It has the great design but the lack of removable battery will disappoint some consumers.

Display

The HTC 8S has a 4 inch WVGA (800 x 480) screen with Corning Gorilla Glass. It has 233 ppi pixel density and has the multitouch facility in it. It is also equipped with some brilliant features like Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Scratch Resistant Glass

Camera

It has the 5MP camera at rear with LED flash 720p video recording it comes with a f/2.8 aperture and 35mm lens for improved picture quality which clicks awesome photos and makes great videos. HTC 8S has the additional features like autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection. Camera of this phone is quite good but the problem is that even at this price HTC didn’t include the secondary camera.

Battery

It has the Embeded and rechargeable Li-ion Polymer battery with 1700 mAh capacity. It should keep you going for a whole day with a decent level of usage with the 1GHz dual-core S4 processor which is quite powerful . Their is the problem with this phone is that There’s no access to the 1,700mAh battery of it , which may annoy some of you who like to stick bigger power packs in your phones.

Performance

The HTC Windows Phone 8S has the 1.00 GHz Dual Core processor with 512 MB RAM with 4 GB internal storage and it can be expanded by microSD card upto 32 GB which means you can store as much you can on a phone. It also has the Adreno 305 which maximizes the performance of your handset during the gaming and work related to the graphics. Its camera also produces good quality photos but the only thing is that the phone not having the secondary camera in it even at this price range.

Verdict

HTC Windows Phone 8S is very good product to have powered with the 1GHz dual core processor with all new Microsoft Windows phone 8. It has great design and build quality made up of polycarbonate. If you are very found of to look stylish than you buy this phone no matter at what Price but if you are looking towards features than their may be a problem because even in this price range this phone doesn’t have secondary camera.

Before heading ahead you need to know basically what are Smartphones and Feature Phones?

So Smartphones are those which have advanced computing capability than feature phones. While Feature phones are low-end device with lower-price.

Smartphones Features

Smartphone term came into origin in 1973 and first device cam into market in 1993 but term Smartphone was used first in 1997 by Ericsson.

Smartphone are telephony and advanced computing machines which run on Mobile Operating Systems. Mobile OS gives you the advanced application programming interfaces (APIs) for running third-party applications which allows those applications to have better integration with the phone’s OS and hardware than is typical with feature phones.

In Today’s world there are fleet of Mobile Operating systems but only Some like iOS, Android, Blackberry Os, Samsung Bada, etc are popular. Particularly iOS and Android have near about 700,000 Apps in their App markets. So from this figure we can guess the vast variety of integration of Smartphones. These phones are not low priced but Google’s Android OS has made available low price Smartphones.

These phones also have large touch displays for easy navigation. Smartphones can multitask, now multiuser profiles are also supported by Android 4.2 os, etc.

Smartphones account 30-35% of total phones sold this year.

Feature Phones Features

These phones are low and low price phones which provides basic functionality like calling, internet access, camera, music player, etc but they don’t have highly integrated app, multitasking, etc. But now these days as technology advances feature phones are also getting features of smartphones but smartphones are also going beyond limits. So feature phones will always remain behind Smartphones.

Most feature phones are designed to excel with one or two functions like high quality photos or large memory for music storage. Feature Phones run on run on proprietary firmware, with third-party software support through platforms such as Java ME or BREW.

Currently most of the world Mobile users use Feature phones as according to survey 70 percent of mobile phones sold are feature phones worldwide by 2013.

Disadvantages of Smartphones

As if there are advantages of Smartphones, its disadvantages also exist like these days most of the malware attacks are targeted on Smartphone users, its battery gets exhausted fastly, security issues, typing, etc
