What is HTC Sense and Its Versions?

HTC Sense is a User Interface with many apps and extra add-ons which helps you to customize your HTC Smartphone weather its running on Android, Windows Phone or Brew. HTC Sense is based on TouchFLO 3D design and it improves user experience. HTC Sense is an experience designed around many little insightful ideas or we can even say HTC Sense is the main Sense Organ for HTC Smartphones.

HTC Sense History

It was announced on June 24, 2009 and HTC Hero was first Android phone to run HTC Sense, While HTC HD2 was first Windows phone.

Until 2010, HTC Sense was not that famous as it is now. But what happened in 2010 which made Sense popular? So that thing was new User Interface, addition of new widgets like Friend Stream widget and access to all home screens at once.

Later, HTC outs two more new versions with new features and enhancements. Currently HTC Sense 4+ is latest version running on various devices like HTC One X, HTC One X+ and One S.

HTC Sense Versions

HTC Sense is constantly evolving in order to keep up with the technological advances that are always being made. As discussed above HTC Sense have various versions according to new features and advancements. HTC developed every version with some new ideas.  Let’s see what has evolved with different versions and when:

HTC Sense

It was the first version of Sense and was debuted on HTC Hero and later on HTC HD2 tasted it which were then running on Android 1.5 (Cupcake). This version includes some basic apps like Facebook, Twitter and even more.

HTC Espresso

T-Mobile myTouch devices came preloaded with this version of Sense. It featured all Sense functions along with some new advancements. Functionality of HTC Sense was tweaked in this version.

HTC Sense 2.0

From now HTC Sense started gaining popularity due to addition of features like friend stream widgets and Leap feature. HTC Sense 2.0 was first introduced on HTC Wildfire and HTC desire which were running on Android 2.1 Eclair.

HTC sense 3.0

In year of 2011 HTC again issued new version Sense and this time its version 3.0. It was first launched on HTC sensation along with new enhancements like HTC Watch, Lockscreen Shortcuts, Widgets and 3D homescreen transition effects while scrolling homescreen.

HTC Sense 3.6

Again HTC revised its Sense 3.0 version with new things like a new homescreen with pinnable apps. HTC Sensation was updated to Sense 3.6 along with new device, HTC Vivid. But according to reviewers this version was not attached to ICS as much as it needs to be.

HTC Sense 4.0

HTC Sense 4.0 was built atop Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich and this version of Sense was first introduced on  HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC Evo 4G LTE, and HTC One V. Except new features it also includes performance tweaks and bug fixes which helped Sense 4.0 to make it lighter and safer. HTC also threw in its own imaging technology, dubbed ImageSense, to offer some cool new enhancements to the camera. Along with all above there was new Homescreen, vast personalization options, better lockscreen integration and much more.

HTC Sense 4.1

It was announced on August 18, 2012 for HTC One X, HTC One S, and HTC Evo 4G LTE got Android 4.0.4 and HTC Sense 4.1. Various new things were introduced with better battery life and faster User Interface.

HTC Sense 4+

This version comes preloaded with HTC One X+ and it has refined all features and functions which were introduced in HTC Sense 4.1. There is refinement in every edge of Sense 4+ if we compare it with Sense 4.1. It makes everything look fresher and brighter. Currently Droid DNA and HTC One X+ is running HTC Sense 4+.
